You’ll be able to explore more than 100 beautiful hiking routes in close proximity to the AlpenParks apartments. The eleven-kilometre-long Mühlbacher Höhenweg trail, for instance, leads you across gently undulating alpine meadows, through picturesque gorges, and past impressive waterfalls. Those who want to be even closer to Hochkönig can hike from Arthurhaus to Mitterfeldalm. This almost five-kilometre-long trail leads you mostly along forest paths and is suitable for families.
Tip: Opposite our apartments is the "Sportstadl" with its own hiking equipment rental and souvenir store.

Tasty breaks at idyllic mountain huts
In the idyllic scenery between Mühlbach, Maria Alm, and Dienten, even taking a break from hiking becomes a truly enjoyable experience: 71 alpine pastures and their rustic huts offer everything your heart desires – from tasty Gröstl to delicious Kaiserschmarrn. And even though it might seem as if time stood still up here, traditional dishes are not the only thing you’ll be served. You can also choose from various vegetarian and vegan dishes. Whichever you prefer – one thing is for sure: You’ll taste the Alps with every single bite!

Immerse yourself in the world of the Alps
Those who want to fully immerse themselves in the world of the Alps might want to opt for a long hiking trail. "Ach du grüne Neune" is the name of the six-stage trail that takes you past all 16 mountain herb pastures and that lets you conquer a few summits along the way.
On the 74-kilometre Königsweg, you hike along the Hochkönig mountain range. In four stages, you’ll walk from alpine pasture to alpine pasture – and from Maria Alm via Dienten to Mühlbach and back to the starting point. The scenic views and landscape sections you’ll get to experience on the long hiking trail from Königssee to Hochkönig are immensely impressive as well. Leave your everyday worries behind you and enjoy the feeling of freedom in the mountains!
Discovering Alpine herbs while hiking in Mühlbach am Hochkönig
Hiking in Mühlbach means: always discovering something new. For instance, the many Alpine herbs that grow between rugged rocks. Alone or with herb experts, you can learn about them on a “herb hike”, which is bound to make your tour even more fascinating. With a Kräuterpass (“herb passport”), you can also collect stickers at the various pastures and, as a reward, you’ll receive surprise products. Special herb hikes for children are offered as well – perfect for knowledge-hungry little explorers.

Six summer lifts ensure that you’ll comfortably get to the starting point of each respective tour. In summer, they are open from 9:00 to 17:00. Summiteers and mountain sports enthusiasts also have the option of using the Hochkönig hikers bus. And what’s more: With the Hochkönig Card, it’s free of charge.
