Experience a breathtaking 11 km long descent that leads down from Matrei in East Tyrol. This impressive run starts at an altitude of 2,621 m at the Großglockner Resort, making it the longest valley run you will find in East Tyrol.
Skiing on the Grossglockner
On the mountain it’s all about slope fun and hut magic from morning to night. And no wonder, with 43 kilometres of slopes and 14 modern lift facilities. There are hardly any waiting periods in this huge winter sport paradise uniting three ski areas, but lots of entertainment for all ages, connoisseurs and experts. Immerse yourself in the idyll of glistening treetops and dancing snowflakes, and don’t forget the rest stop every now and then – the Adlerlounge on the Grossglockner rewards winter athletes after arduous activities with a 360° panoramic view. You will realise that you’ve rarely been so close to the summit.
One ski pass, several slopes
Those who want to ski beyond the Grossglockner have a few other ski areas near Matrei in East Tyrol at their disposal: Brunnalm ski area Defreggental, Zettersfeld & Hochstein Lienz or Ski Centre Sillian Hochpustertal. There’s a total of 350 kilometres of slopes to tackle. The National Park region Hohe Tauern above 1,000 metres additionally offers snow-reliability until Easter and above-average days of sunshine.
