Snowshoeing in the heart of Tyrol
From a means of travel to trend sport
As modern as our contemporary snowshoes might look, it’s hard to believe that they are a means of travel that is actually many centuries old. A long time ago people realised that they’d sink in less into the snow using the large-area snowshoes, thereby being able to move about easier on the snow layer.
Back then they certainly didn’t know that this would become a proper trend sport.
Today snowshoeing is among the most popular winter sports with all ages. Experience completely new aspects of the region during a snowshoe tour in Seefeld. You explore paths that remain hidden to skiers, snowboarders or even winter hikers. Be the first to leave your marks in the snow in the pristine nature, enjoy the quiet and the breathtaking view.

Select snowshoe tours in Seefeld
- A tour with a beautiful view is the snowshoe hike from Seefeld via the Gschwandtkopf to Reith. With a walking time of about 2.5 hours, it is a neat hike for in-between.
- Equally beautiful, but substantially longer is the tour from Weidach via the Hohe Fluder to Ahrn. Having a walking time of 4 hours and a distance of 8.3 km, quite a bit of endurance is required. The stunning panorama with views of the Karwendelgebirge and Wettersteingebirge balance it out.
Rent the necessary equipment, such as snowshoes and poles, in many sport stores throughout the region. Guided group tours are offered as well. Find all information about the offer on the site of the Informationsbüro Seefeld.
Relaxing after the snowshoe hike
After a demanding snowshoe tour, you best relax in the spa area of AlpenParks Alpina Seefeld. The sauna or steam bath are a good deed for the body after the exertion in the cold.
