Romance in the fresh air

An extended winter hike leads to particularly beautiful, romantic places throughout the region. No less than 140 km of winter hiking trails as well as numerous other winter hiking offers in Zell am See, Kaprun and Saalfelden make heaven on earth tangible. The gentle crunching of the snow under your boots provides the soundtrack to exploratory tours in the quiet, stark scenery. Small forest paths, long walks along the promenades, exciting alpine excursions and circular hiking trails at the mountain stations of the numerous winter cable cars provide a pure sense of well-being. How about, for example:

  • Lindlingalm: This five and a half hour tour requires a bit of stamina. With a view towards the end of the valley, it goes around Hinterglemm.
  • Saalach Promenade: The promenade from Saalbach to Jausern in Vorderglemm is much more leisurely and idyllic. These two hours offer welcome comfort.
  • Sonnalm: Winter hiking in Saalbach and Hinterglemm would be boring without this mountain pasture excursion. The three-hour walk includes the Saalbach promenade, Unterreit and Hasenbach.
Helpful winter hiking tips

Winter hiking is all about relaxation and enjoying nature. To keep it that way, you should observe the following tips for safety and good coexistence:

  •  On winter hiking trails, especially when crossing pistes, cross-country ski trails and cable cars, you may encounter other winter sports enthusiasts at any time. Watch out for skiers, tobogganists and cross-country skiers!
  • The signs on the summer hiking trails are not valid due to the snow conditions. Please only follow the winter hiking signs.
  • After fresh snowfall, special care must be taken - it may be that the otherwise perfectly prepared paths have not yet been cleared and/or gritted.
