Feel the power of the Alps. Smell the tangy scent of the mountain meadows. Breathe the clear air. And take nature as your compass.
Explore the surroundings from the hiking hotel on the Hochkönig
The AlpenParks Maria Alm is located only a few minutes walk from the Natrunbahn. This will take you up to the summit in no time. But also down in the valley there are plenty of trails to discover - many of them start right at the front door of your hiking hotel on the Hochkönig.
- A short walk of just two kilometers leads to the Chapel of Peace, which lies hidden in the forest above Maria Alm and exudes a special sense of tranquility.
- Another loop, just under 4 kilometers long, is the Panorama Trail, which also begins in the village center. Along this route, which also passes the pretty Gasteg Chapel, there are great views across to the Steinernes Meer and Maria Alm.
- You can also tackle the 6-kilometer golf course circuit from the center, as well as the 8-kilometer Natrun-Jufen circular trail, which leads up to the local mountain, the Natrun.

Diving into the world of herbs.
Herbs have fascinated people since time immemorial - which is exactly why the herb hiking trail "Ach du Grüne Neune" was created. It is 107.6 kilometers long and leads in 6 stages around Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach, as well as past 16 rustic mountain pastures. Unique views, the one or other summit victory and herbal knowledge are on top. If the entire trail is too demanding for you, you can also venture only the first stage: it starts directly in Maria Alm, is 18 kilometers long and takes about 7 hours.
For long-distance hikers: Königsweg & Salzburger Almenweg
The Königsweg, which leads in 4 stages from Maria Alm via Dienten and Mühlbach and finally back to Maria Alm, is also a delightful undertaking. Along the Hochkönig massif you will catch impressive views of the surrounding mountains, hike through the Steinerne Meer and over the Dientner Grasberge.
You also have the opportunity to walk a section of the 350-kilometer-long Salzburger Almenweg, which leads through the most beautiful regions of Salzburg. This long-distance hiking trail with its 31 stages is suitable for real mountain experts as well as for hobby hikers and families with children.
