Exciting experiences in the Kitzbühel Alps region

What awaits you around your holiday accommodation

One of the largest mountain ranges in the Eastern Alps stretches from Maishofen and Zell am See in Salzburg in the east via Mittersill and Neukirchen in the south and, in Tyrol, St. Johann in Tirol and Wörgl in the north to the Zillertal in the west. The Kitzbühel Alps region, mainly located in Tyrol, with the eponymous town of Kitzbühel as its capital, has always been one of the most popular holiday regions in Austria, featuring a multitude of skiing and hiking areas, magical places and exciting sights. The equally enchanting AlpenParks Taxacher Hotel & Apartment awaits you in the centre of it all with style, charm and tailor-made 4-star service.

Brixen im Thale

Welcome to the alpine realm of adventure

This magnificent active region stretches between Zillertal and Lake Zell, Salzach Valley and the Inntal, around 80 km from east to west, with the Kreuzjoch at 2,558 m as the highest point and Kitzbühel as its capital, just a few kilometres from AlpenParks Taxacher Hotel & Apartment.

The Kitzbühel Alps region is home to all kinds of active experiences, both in summer and winter. It also hosts high-class events, with the Hahnenkamm race on the legendary Streif ski slope as a major highlight during the frosty season. Countless mountain giants, including more than 30 two-thousand-metre peaks, create the backdrop for all kinds of adventures, infused by magnificent side valleys such as the Brixental and our home, Kirchberg in Tirol. In addition to Kirchberg and Kitzbühel, numerous other exciting towns in the Kitzbühel Alps await you, including Wörgl, Königsleiten, St. Johann in Tirol, Mittersill and Zell am See.

What to do in the Kitzbühel region

It can be a challenge to do justice to the abundance of exciting activities and fantastic destinations in a region like the Kitzbühel Alps. Beyond the well-known hiking and skiing areas, we prefer to focus on the exciting places and somewhat smaller gems that will surely enrich your stay and definitely deserve a trip or two:

  • Hohe Salve: The panoramic mountain in Hopfgarten is without question one of Tyrol’s most beautiful panoramic points. The gondola takes you to the summit at 1,829 m. The 360° panoramic view includes more than 70 three thousand-metre peaks.
  • KAT Walk: Hikers love the region around AlpenParks Taxacher Hotel & Apartment, but this cool long-distance hiking trail is on a whole new level. 106 kilometres lead from the Loferer Steinberge to Brixental.
  • Krampus run: Traditions play an important role in the Kitzbühel Alps, and the arrival of St. Nicholas and Krampus around 5 and 6 December is naturally part of the fun. Evil spirits with masks that are hundreds of years old can be admired in various places in Salzburg, Tyrol and East Tyrol. A little healthy respect is certainly not a bad thing.
  • Almabtrieb: Another custom is dedicated to the ceremony at the end of summer, when the grazing cattle return to their farms from the lush alpine pastures before winter sets in. Magnificently decorated animals with flowers and bells accompany the spectacle.
  • Hochfilzen: A small village with just 1,150 inhabitants turns into a Nordic highlight every winter. It is home to the Biathlon World Cup, and even those who are less keen on sports will fall in love with the spectacular combination of cross-country skiing and target shooting, accompanied by a passionate atmosphere.
  • Kitzbühel: The capital of the Kitzbühel Alps region is of course a must-see. Magnificent events at any time of year, including the world-famous Hahnenkamm ski race, emanate pure magic. Outside of World Cup times, brave skiers and snowboarders can try their hand at sections of the Streif ski slope.

You could spend weeks, even months travelling through the Salzburg and Tyrolean Kitzbühel Alps region, and still you would always discover something new. Why not start today with a little holiday?
