Tobogganing in
Saalbach

Sledding is a fast descent

Turbulent fun for big and small

Tobogganing is just for children? Not in Saalbach! Several runs turn sledding into fun for the entire family. It’s not only children who get their money’s worth –adults too will love the speedy descents on two slick skids.

Sledding on various runs in and around Saalbach

Several toboggan runs await you in Saalbach and its surroundings: Reiterkogel, Spielberghaus, Almbahn 4er and Timoks Alpine Coaster are the insiders’ tips. The cable car ride is included in the ski pass price for almost all runs. Individual tickets for guests without ski passes are certainly available. A special highlight is the ascent to the toboggan run Spielberghaus on the snow groomer shuttle. Many a childhood’s dream comes true!

Those looking for romance schedule their sleigh ride in the evening. The toboggan runs Reiterkogel and Spielberghaus are also open at night. The view from the lighted runs down into the valley impresses time and time again and can be best enjoyed during a little break on the edge of the run.

Hut fun included while tobogganing

Tobogganing wouldn’t be complete without a snug hut rest stop. Traditional Austrian dishes and down-to-earth fare spoil your palate in the Pfefferalm in Saalbach, before embarking on the exciting ride down into the valley. Romantic hut flair and mulled wine at the open fire await you in the Spielberghaus. Come to think of it, choosing the right toboggan run is actually not that easy – best treat yourself to both rides.

Safety instructions for tobogganing

Sledding is always about fun. In order to keep it that way, some safety instructions need to be respected:

  • Adapt your riding style to your skills. Overconfidence can quickly lead to accidents. Don’t overlook the weather conditions either. If the runs are icy, it’s important to ride slowly. Safety before speed!
  • Sturdy shoes are a must (no ski boots!), a helmet is recommended.
  • Some toboggan runs only allow rides with the respective run’s own toboggans. These are equipped with special breaking gears and ensure maximum safety.
  • Tobogganing on the ski slopes is forbidden.
