Sustainability is more than just a word for us
A sustainable vacation
Sustainable vacations in the Ausseerland Salzkammergut
The Ausseerland Salzkammergut, in the green heart of Austria, offers a breathtaking backdrop that inspires sustainable action. In order to preserve this beautiful landscape for future generations and increase the quality of life, we are committed to protecting our environment. That is why we are committed to the sustainable and ecological management of our vacation resort.

Green time-out in the hut village
AlpenParks Hagan Lodge was built back in 2005 under the supervision of the Province of Styria by means of an environmental impact assessment.
During the planning and construction of the facility, great importance was attached to harmoniously integrating the more than 300 beds into the landscape without detracting from the natural beauty with massive buildings.
The lodges were built in the Aussee style and exclusively from wood in a village-like arrangement.
Since 2006, there has also been a barrier-free lodge that is suitable for wheelchair users. Lodges have also been built with a bathroom, WC and bedroom on the first floor.
Our hut village has been run very sustainably since 2005
- Electricity from 100% renewable energy: Our electricity comes from regional energy suppliers. Unfortunately, it is not possible to generate our own electricity using photovoltaics due to the small-scale construction and long winter months.
- Heating: Our lodges are currently heated with individual heating systems, biomass, liquid gas and infrared. We are planning to centralize these heating systems and install a biomass heating plant for the entire facility. Wood chips from the region are to be used in this heating plant. Local farmers and the Austrian Federal Forests can supply the plant with biomass from the neighboring forests. With these measures, we want to avoid fossil fuels and reduce CO2 emissions.
- Electric vehicles: We have been using electric vehicles to operate our plant since 2006. All of our vans have been electric since 2018. We have also been offering eight charging stations for guests with electric cars since 2021.
- Saving water: We reduce water consumption by installing jet regulators in our taps, which limit consumption to a maximum of 5l/min. Our shower heads have been switched to Hansgrohe EcoSmart, reducing the maximum flow rate to 6l/min.
- Sustainable cleaning: Bed linen and towels are not changed daily, but only once a week or on departure. The lodges are only cleaned on departure to minimize the consumption of hotel linen and cleaning agents.
- Environmentally friendly products: We only use biodegradable detergents and cleaning agents. Our cleaning professionals use certified, environmentally friendly cleaning systems.
- Waste separation: Waste is pre-sorted by our guests and further separated by our staff. We separate waste according to precise specifications to ensure effective recycling and work continuously to make waste separation easier for our guests and employees.
- Supporting local clubs: We support regional sports, youth and cultural clubs. The winter sports club is supported in the purchase of clothing for youth work. We sponsor various events such as the Narzissenlauf (children's run), the Salzkammergut Trophy and the Altaussee social welfare association.
- Social responsibility: We offer our employees accommodation, take care of their health and ensure fair pay and work-friendly conditions with plenty of free time.
- Creating awareness: At check-in, we inform our guests about our environmental measures and promote conscious behavior.
- Regional products: We rely on local producers and craft businesses, value short distances and transparent cycles.
Our region
The Ausseerland Salzkammergut, in the green heart of Austria, offers a breathtaking backdrop that inspires sustainable action.
Surrounded by majestic mountains - from the Loser, Altaussee's local mountain, to the Tauplitzalm - the region offers a natural environment that invites you to enjoy and discover, but also to preserve.

The local lakes and bodies of water, such as the Altausseersee, Grundlsee and Ödensee, as well as the Traun rivers, with their diverse shades of blue, are impressive natural beauties. In this idyllic setting, as one of the pioneering businesses in Ausseerland, we are committed to tourism that takes into account both the preservation of the incomparable landscape and the well-being of the community.
