Hike to Amertaler See

The hike starts at the north portal of the Felbertauern tunnel (only approx. 35 minutes by car from our accommodation AlpenParks Hotel & Apartment Orgler Kaprun).

There are some free parking spaces on the left-hand side. To the left of the tunnel, the trail leads up into the beautiful Amertal valley. At the beginning, the hike is quite leisurely and straight along the Amerbach, until it then goes up in steep, short hairpin bends. Here you also pass a beautiful waterfall. The route continues through dense bushes until you reach the Finsterkar. From here you have a magnificent view of the Teufelsspitze peak.

The path is flat for a short while until it splits again and you hike up a steeper grassy slope for the last part of the tour. Small streams are crossed again and again.
After a good 1.5 hours, you have reached the Amertaler See reservoir.

If that's not enough, you can hike on to the Karsee lake at 2,419m. Hike past the Amertaler See to the right and then up the steep slope to the Karsee mountain lake. (approx. 30 minutes).
