Hike to the Paarsee lakes in Dorfgastein
The tour starts at the hiking parking lot just below the Hotel Hauserbauer in Dorfgastein. From here, the route initially takes about 15 minutes uphill on an asphalt road, past the hotel. Shortly afterwards, the path branches off onto a steep hiking trail. The route is well signposted, simply follow the signs in the direction of the Paarseen lakes. As the path is mostly in the sun, an early start is particularly recommended in summer.
Once at the top, you have a choice: either descend directly to the Paarseen lakes or continue to the “2-Seen-Blick”. The detour there takes around 5-10 minutes, and the panoramic view of both Paarseen lakes and the surrounding peaks is more than worth the short effort.
On the way back, you can visit the Steiner Hochalm mountain hut at 1,550 meters above sea level. There are plenty of culinary specialties here: organic milk, organic cheese, bacon, roast pork, apple juice, schnapps, bread, curd cheese spreads, liqueurs and fresh farmhouse doughnuts.
