Hike to the Ahornkogel and the Trisselwand

25.10.2022

The mountain tour starts at the paid parking lot at the Tressensattel. From AlpenParks Hagan Lodge, it's a 20-minute drive to the parking lot. Our tip: start early otherwise the parking lot is usually very full.

Then head up the meadows to the left of the old inn until you quickly branch off onto the forest path. The hiking trail through the shady forest is very steep from the start and often slippery - good footwear is important here. At one point, you briefly cross a forest road and then turn right back onto the hiking trail.

The forest then thins out and you reach rocky terrain. You should be sure-footed and have a head for heights here. This is followed by a very well-secured crossing of a rock face. Breathtaking views of Lake Grundlsee accompany the ascent. The route now continues up through the mountain pine zone. On a small plateau, the trail then goes straight ahead for a short time and you have the opportunity to take a detour to the Ahornkogel summit cross at 1,686m. The turn-off is not signposted, but you can see clear climbing tracks. It takes around 5 minutes to reach the summit cross.

After a short break at the Ahornkogel, descend back to the plateau and continue towards the Trisselwand. From here, you hike leisurely through mountain pine lanes and across meadows up to the summit at 1,754m. Once at the summit, you can enjoy the magnificent view of Lake Altaussee.

You then return via the same route.
