Hike to the Spielberghorn from Saalbach

The starting point for this hike is the AlpenParks Hotel & Apartment Sonnleiten Saalbach. Shortly before the hotel, you will see hiking signs indicating the way to Spielberghorn. You walk up the road and past the Maisalm. Further up, the path branches off to the left and leads across meadows and then into a forest. A little later you come out at the Wirtsalm, above the Spielberghaus.

From here, continue along the forest road until you reach a hiking sign indicating the way up to the right. From this point on, the trail climbs steeply uphill like a serpentine. Again and again you pass small streams. After a short time, you reach a small plateau where the path branches off towards Kleberkopf. However, the trail continues up to the Spielberghorn. For the last 30 minutes there are a few more rocky steps to negotiate and then you have reached the Spielberghorn summit cross at 2,044m.

On the way back, you can make a small detour (approx. 30 minutes) and hike to the Kleberkopf. You can then return via the forest road to the Wirtsalm and then back to the hotel.
