Hike from Viehhofen to the Schmittenhöhe

The starting point of the hike is the village square in Viehhofen. Just opposite the Viehhofen tourist office, you will see numerous hiking signs on the other side of the road in front of a bridge. From here, follow the signs in the direction of "Schmittenhöhe".

The trail initially leads through the forest and soon reaches the middle station of the zellamseeXpress. From here, the hiking trail meanders over the piste and into the forest. In some sections, you also have to climb directly up the very steep ski slope. Again and again, gigantic views open up towards Glemmtal and Viehhofen.

The last section before the Salersbachköpfl on the Schmittenhöhe then leads steeply up to the left of the piste. In June and July, numerous alpine roses bloom there, offering a beautiful sight. After a hiking time of around 2.5 hours, you reach the Salersbachköpfl on the Schmittenhöhe.

You can take the same route back, or continue right towards the Schmittenhöhebahn/TrassXpress and take the cable car down.
