Hike to the Sausteigen summit from Saalfelden
The starting point for this hike is the Huggenberg mountain restaurant in Saalfelden. There are a few parking spaces here. Now head off to the right of the mountain restaurant in the direction of "Berggasthof Biberg" or "Berlis Hütte". Here you hike in serpentines for 2 kilometers along the forest road. Then we pass the mountain inn and continue towards Weikersbacher Köpfl at 1,616m. We soon reach the first summit cross "Durchenkopf" 1,764m and later the summit "Haiderbergkogel" 1,875m.
After a good 2 - 2.5 hours you have reached your destination, the Sausteigen. There are two panoramic benches for a snack and a comfortable lounger for sunbathing. From the Sausteigen summit you can enjoy a panoramic view over the Pinzgau grass mountains, the Leoganger Steinberge, the Steinerne Meer, the Hochkönig and the peaks of the Hohe Tauern.
You then return the same way back to Huggenberg. A very rewarding and beautiful tour.
