Hike to the Messelingkogel in Matrei in East Tyrol

The starting point is the Matreier Tauernhaus (there is a large paid parking lot here). Just behind the house, turn right into the mountain forest. Here the trail climbs steeply in serpentines up to the former lift station. Next you reach the Grünseehütte at 2,235m (not open to the public) and just behind it is the first lake - the beautiful Grünsee. Continue in the direction of Schwarzsee and Grausee. From the Grausee, turn left to the Messelingscharte at 2,583m. From here, you have to climb up a steep, blocky rock. Further up, the path leads briefly along the eastern side, secured by a wire rope, to the easier, very wide summit ridge.

The hike is very varied and has a lot to offer in terms of scenery - highly recommended!
