Hike from Maishofen to the Schwalbenwand summit

16.04.2024

The starting point of the hike is the free parking lot at Schloss Kammer in Maishofen. The forest path begins to the left of the castle and winds its way uphill through dense forest to the Kammereggalm at 1,250 meters. During the summer months, the alpine pasture offers a welcome refreshment stop for hikers. After about an hour and a half's walk, you reach another private alpine hut and then climb steeply over green alpine meadows.

The striking summit cross of the Maishofen Schwalbenwand can soon be seen in the distance. Around 40 minutes of walking still separate you from the summit. Once at the top, an impressive panorama opens up, encompassing the majestic Tauern mountains, the Zillertal Alps, Lake Zell, the Saalachtal valley and the imposing Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge mountains.

There is also the option of climbing up to the main summit of the Schwalbenwand at 2,006m. Here you should allow for another 15 minutes' walk.

Return via the same route.
