Summit hike in Aurach near Kitzbühel
The hike starts at the Kelchalm-Bochumerhütte guest parking lot in Aurach near Kitzbühe (can be found on Google Maps under “Parkplatz Pochwerk”). This can be reached by taking the entrance on the right at Gasthof Hechenmoos in Aurach. From there, first follow the Wieseneggweg and then the Grüntalweg. Finally, the route leads along an alpine and forest road directly to the free parking lot.
From here you start in the direction of Kelchalm-Bochumerhütte. At the first fork in the trail, take the left-hand, somewhat steeper path, which is the shorter option to the hut. After about 30 minutes you reach the Kelchalm.
Behind the hut, the path continues towards Laubkogel. Follow a steep meadow and forest path that leads to the first summit, the Laubkogel at 1,760 meters, after about an hour. At the top, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view over Kitzbühel - the perfect moment to enjoy the ascent!
From here, the route continues to the next destination: the summit Rauber. This stage involves another 330 meters of ascent. You finally reach the summit and once again enjoy fantastic views. And the third summit follows: In around 10 minutes, you reach the highest point of the hike, the Saalkogel at 2,006 meters. Up here you can take a well-earned break and enjoy the view to the full.
For the way back, follow the path in the direction of Saaljoch. Then continue to the Oberkaseralm and finally follow the signs back to the parking lot.
