Hike to the Imbachhorn from Kaprun
Before we start our hike, we fortify ourselves with a delicious breakfast buffet at AlpenParks Hotel & Apartment Orgler, right in the center of Kaprun. Then we take the bus to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier lifts. (With the new Zell am See-Kaprun mobility card, all public transport is free!) From the ticket office, we now have to walk up to the top parking lot, as this is where the hike to the Imbachhorn starts.
When you arrive at the top parking lot, you can already see the signposts. We follow trail no. 724 in the direction of Imbachorn. At the beginning, you hike up a fairly steep forest path. The path is always clearly visible and well marked. Above the tree line, you then hike up a steep meadow path in several serpentines to the Brandlscharte.
At the Brandlscharte, you then have the option of either branching off to the left to the Imbachhorn 2,470m or to the right to the Rettenzink summit 2,510m. We opt for the first option and continue towards the Imbachhorn.
At the summit at 2,470 m, we are rewarded with a magnificent view. From up here you have a unique view of Lake Zell and the Hohe Tauern. After a short snack break and an entry in the summit book, we head back towards Brandlscharte. If you still have enough energy, you can make a detour to the Rettenzink. You then return via the same route.
All in all, a wonderful but very long hike.
You should definitely take enough stamina, water and snacks with you.
There are around 1,500 meters of altitude to conquer.
