Hike through the Schösswendklamm gorge to Hintersee lake

From Mittersill, drive in the direction of Felbertauern until you see a junction "Hintersee" on the right after a good 8 kilometers. Continue for another 300 meters until you reach a small parking lot on the left. The hike through the Schösswendklamm gorge starts from here. First you walk briefly along the road and past the Pembach waterfall. Then you will see hiking signs to the entrance of the Schösswendklamm gorge on the left. The path leads over small bridges, streams and through the forest. You cross the road again and again. After a good 1 to 1.5 hours, you have reached the beautiful Hintersee in Mittersill.

Especially in spring after the snow melts, the Hintersee is a real crocus paradise. The meadows around the Hintersee blossom in the colors purple and white.
You can then return the same way or walk back to the starting point via the road.

Tip: From Hintersee in the Felbertal valley, you can also go on some beautiful mountain tours. We highly recommend the hike to Plattachsee and the St. Pöltener Hütte.
