Hike up the Seehorn 2,321m
The starting point of the hike is the Pürzlbach parking lot in Weißbach bei Lofer, which is subject to a fee. (There is also a shorter option where you can take the Almwandertaxi to the Kallbrunnalm) At the beginning you hike along a forest road to the famous Kallbrunnalm. Continue straight on to the "Käsealm". At this hut, you have the option of turning right towards the Dießbach reservoir or left towards Seehornsee and Seehorn summit.
After a good 500 meters, the forest road branches off into a hiking trail. You then walk for approx. 1 hour through a beautiful pine forest until you reach the Seehornsee lake. It's worth taking a short break here and enjoying the view (make sure you pack your swimming gear!)
The route then continues quite steeply for a short distance towards the Seehorn summit. After a good hour, you will have reached the fantastic new summit cross at 2,321m. You can hike back the same way, or you can opt for the longer option and descend via the Kematenschneid and then via the Hochwiese to the Dießbach reservoir.
A very rewarding mountain tour with many great views.
