Via the Stoissengraben to the Peter Wiechenthaler Hut

Start at the Stoissengraben parking lot (free parking). You now hike along the forest road through the Stoissengraben gorge for a while. Then the waterfall trail begins - this is secured with ropes, ladders and footbridges. You should be sure-footed and free from giddiness here and you also need good footwear (wet). You now hike and climb alongside the Buchenweißbach stream until you finally reach the beautiful waterfall.

After a short break for a drink at the waterfall, continue towards the Peter Wiechenthaler Hütte. To do this, you have to cross the Buchenweißbach stream and then continue up the very steep, winding forest path. After a good 2.5-3 hours, you will have reached the Peter Wiechenthaler hut at 1,752m. Here you have earned a hearty snack, cheese dumplings, spinach dumplings or a delicious Kaiserschmarrn.

You can then take the hiking trail back towards Bachwinkl (but you should park a second car at the Bachwinkl parking lot beforehand) or continue towards Steinalm Saalfelden. There are also ladders and rope safety devices on the hiking trail to the Steinalm. In some places, the hiking trail is very exposed and narrow - here too, surefootedness and a head for heights are required! You should also park a second car in advance for the Steinalm variant.
