Valley crossing - from Niedernsill via Breiteck into the Stubach Valley

The starting point of the hike is Rattensbachtal in Niedernsill. You can either set off from the Niedernsill village square and follow the village road to the fork in the road between Zillertalstraße and Rattensbachweg. Here you walk along the forest road until you reach the fork in the road towards Breiteck after approx. 1 - 1.5 hours. (Alternatively, you could drive to the barrier at Rattensbachweg, park in the small parking lot and set off from here).

At the "Breiteck" junction, walk a little further along the forest road, where you will pass an alpine hut (not serviced). After a good 15 minutes, the forest road ends and you branch off to the right (there is a large stone to climb over by the fence). From now on, follow the trail markings across the large alpine meadows. Tip: There are lots of marmots to be seen here!

After a good 2 - 2.5 hours, you will have reached the Breiteck at 2,114m. At Breiteck, we then descend to the left via Steingassl and then via Schlauchenalm and Hasenaualm to Schneiderau/Uttendorf.

You can then return to Niedernsill by bus or have someone pick you up in Stubachtal.
