On the animal carving trail to the Zapferl Alm
The picturesque Zapferl Alm is located in Mühlbach am Hochkönig. If you arrive by car, you will find parking facilities about 300 m before the Birgkarhaus on the left-hand side of the road. Alternatively, you can also use the free hiking bus, which stops at the Dientner Sattel Birgkarhaus.
A dirt track on the left leads you directly to a mystical forest trail - a highly recommended route in summer! This hiking trail is suitable for both adults and children and leads through a cool and refreshing coniferous forest. Shortly after the start, you will discover hand-carved wooden animals along the way. After just 20 minutes on foot, you will reach the alpine pasture, which offers many regional specialties and invites you to linger.
For those looking for a greater challenge, there are extensive hiking trails that start from Birgkar or Dienten and lead to the Alm. You can find the exact opening times on the website www.hochkoenig.at
Tip: The AlpenParks Hotel & Apartment Hochkönig is just a short 7-minute drive from the starting point of this hike. As a guest at the AlpenParks Hotel, you benefit from the included Hochkönig Card, with which you can use the free hiking bus and many other advantages.
