Snowshoe hike to the Schützingalm in Zell am See
The starting point of the hike is the Berggasthof Mitterberg 1,200m in Thumersbach. There are numerous paid parking spaces available here. We hike directly along the forest road through shady forests and enjoy the beautiful winter landscape. It would also be possible to take the forest path over the Schwalbenwand, but today we decide to take a leisurely tour to the Schützingalm.
After a few hairpin bends, the forest thins out and reveals the first views of the surrounding mountains and Lake Zell. After a good 1.5 hours, we reach the Schützingalm at 1,655m. However, the hut is only open in summer, so you should take a small snack with you. After a short refreshment, we return the same way.
