Family Hike on the Kohlmais in Saalbach – from Montelino via the Panoramaalm to the Spielberghaus

Our favorite tour for families, leisure seekers, and anyone looking to enjoy a varied day in the mountains. Start your unforgettable hiking day in a relaxed manner right from AlpenParks Sonnleiten. Take the Kohlmaisbahn cable car for a comfortable ride up the mountain and cover the first few meters of elevation gain with ease. Once at the top, the adventure begins for young and old alike.

The popular Montelino Adventure Trail delights with lovingly designed play stations, exciting puzzles, and plenty of opportunities to discover and marvel. While the children go on a journey of discovery, parents enjoy the impressive mountain scenery around Saalbach Hinterglemm. Soon you’ll reach the Panoramaalm—a place that truly lives up to its name. Our tip for warm summer days: Pack your swimsuit! The idyllic swimming pond offers Panoramaalm guests the perfect refreshment and is equally popular with children and adults alike.

The trail continues on to the rustic Wirtsalm. Here you can experience the unspoiled side of the Salzburg mountains. The cozy atmosphere, regional delicacies, and magnificent views invite you to linger a little longer.

Another highlight of the tour is the Spielberghaus. A special stop is the Spielberghaus—the home of Vali Höll, one of the world’s most successful mountain bike athletes. Here, genuine Pinzgau hospitality meets the story of an exceptional athlete from Saalbach Hinterglemm. The impressive mountain scenery can be enjoyed especially well from the sun terrace.

For the return trip, we recommend the Paschaweg to families. The varied forest trail quickly becomes a little adventure trail for children. Amid trees, roots, and shady forest sections, time flies by. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can alternatively hike back to the AlpenParks Sonnleiten via the forest road.

Our conclusion: This tour combines everything that makes for a perfect day of vacation in Saalbach—mountain railways, panoramic views, fun and games for children, rustic alpine huts, regional cuisine, and beautiful nature. A hike that will remain in your memory for a long time to come.
