From the Edelweissspitze to the Baumgartlkopf and Hirzkarkopf
To get to the starting point for the hike, you first have to drive up the toll road Großglockner Hochalpenstraße to the Edelweissspitze at 2,571m. Here you can park your car and start the hike. From the parking lot, walk down the road for approx. 100m until you reach the bend with the "Baumgartlkopf" hiking sign.
At the beginning, the trail climbs steeply downhill until you reach a wide meadow ridge. Follow this until the steep ascent towards Baumgartlkopf begins again. After a good 1 to 1.5 hours, you have reached the summit of Baumgartlkopf at 2,621m.
If you wish, you can then hike on to the Hirzkarkopf summit. This summit is a little lower, but also very worthwhile. The hiking trail is somewhat narrow and rocky in places, but not difficult. You can easily bypass the Hirzkarkopf via the north-west flank. Shortly before the summit, it gets a little airy and you climb over large rocks up to the cross. The Hirzkarkopf is located at 2,554m and offers a magnificent view of the Seidlwinkltal valley in Rauris.
Return via the same route.
