The Hochkönig Card is the free guest card for the Hochkönig vacation region and is valid in Mühlbach, Dienten, and Maria Alm. As an AlpenParks guest, you’ll receive the card automatically at check-in—at no extra charge and for each family member individually.

In summer, you can use it to ride all open mountain railways and the hiking bus for free, enjoy free access to outdoor pools and museums, and save money at over 30 attractions in the Salzburg region. In winter, the card also offers exclusive benefits such as free night skiing at the Simmerlift in Maria Alm.

What is the Hochkönig Card?

The Hochkönig Card is the official guest card for the Hochkönig vacation region and is valid in the three Hochkönig towns of Mühlbach, Dienten, and Maria Alm. It combines the region’s most important summer and winter amenities into a single card—from free rides on the mountain railways to admission to the outdoor pool. Over 30 partner businesses and attractions in Salzburg and the surrounding area offer cardholders additional attractive discounts.

As a partner business of the Hochkönig region, we automatically provide the card to all our guests free of charge—you don’t have to do anything except check in.


Here's how to get your Hochkönig Card

The card will be handed to you in person at check-in at the front desk. It is valid from the day of arrival until the day of departure and is tied to the specific guest (non-transferable).

How long is the Hochkönig Card valid?

The card is personalized and is valid from the day of your arrival through the day of your departure. It may not be transferred to other people.

Does the Hochkönig Card work in the winter, too?

Yes, the card also offers special benefits in winter, such as night skiing at the Simmerlift, as well as discounts on horse-drawn sleigh rides and torchlight hikes. However, it is not a substitute for a ski pass—the ski pass must be purchased separately.

What happens if I lose my Hochkönig Card?

Do I need the Hochkönig Card to use the hiking bus?

Yes, the Hochkönig Card also serves as your ticket for the hiking bus between Maria Alm, Dienten, and Mühlbach. Just show it when you board.

Can I go skiing with the Hochkönig Card?

No, the Hochkönig Card is not a ski pass and does not grant access to the winter mountain railways for skiing. To ski in the Hochkönig ski area, you will need a separate ski pass, which you can purchase at the mountain railway ticket offices or online.

Is the Hochkönig Card also valid in Saalbach?

No, the Hochkönig Card is valid only in the three towns of the Hochkönig vacation region—Mühlbach, Dienten, and Maria Alm. Saalbach is part of the neighboring Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn region and has its own guest card system.
