World of Ice Giants & Castle Hohenwerfen:
55 kilometres north-east from AlpenParks Resort Maria Alm you can embark on a journey back to the Ice Age: 20,000 square metres of ice located 1,641 metres above sea level. The World of Ice Giants in Werfen is the largest ice cave in the world. The entrance to the ice caves can be reached via bus, cable car or a small walk. And after the ice caves, do visit the Castle Hohenwerfen. The impressive castle has plenty on offer: the main attraction is the birds of prey museum and the daily birds of prey flight show.
Anyone who wants to experience the might of water in its most original form should visit the Krimml Waterfalls in Austria. The water falls down for 380 metres – a fascinating view indeed. A 1.5 hour-long hiking tour will lead you to the highest view point of the water fall. The Krimml Waterfalls are located approximately 60 kilometres from the AlpenParks Resort Maria Alm.
Hohe Tauern National Park:
The Hohe Tauern National Park in Austria is the largest national park in Europe with a space of 180,000 hectares. Between crystal clear mountain rivers, blooming flower meadows, idyllic Alpine pastures and imposing 3,000 metre peaks you will be able to watch ibex, marmots and many other animals living freely in the wild.
