Getting to Gastein Valley, your holiday paradise in Austria

By car, train or plane to ‘Salzburger Land’

By car to Bad Hofgastein

From Munich approx. 2 hours

From Salzburg approx. 1 hour:
Tauernautobahn (motorway) heading south to Bischofshofen, exit ‘Gasteinertal’, Bundesstraße 167 to Gastein Valley.

From Innsbruck  approx. 2 hours:
Motorway via Wörgl, Bundesstraße 312 via St.Johann/Tirol to Lofer, Bundesstraße 311 via Zell am See to Lend, Bundesstraße 167 to Gastein or motorway - Kufstein - Salzburg - Villach, exit 'Gasteinertal’, Bundesstraße 167 to Gastein Valley.

Coming from the South drive via Villach, Möllbrücke and Obervellach to Mallnitz and you can get to Gastein without difficulty from there on the railway car shuttle service.

After passing the place name sign for Bad Hofgastein follow the main road until you see the sign which says you are leaving Bad Hofgastein. Continue on the main road until the exit for Bad Hofgastein Süd, at the roundabout take the left exit. Take a left turn into the street and now follow this street (Pyrkerstraße), you are now driving on the spa promenade and will reach AlpenParks Residence Bad Hofgastein 1 km after the roundabout.

By train to Bad Hofgastein

Euro and Intercity trains, fast and express trains stop at Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein train stations; however not all trains stop at Dorfgastein station.

There are always taxi and bus connections to individual districts.

The nearest car-sleeper train loading point is in Bischofshofen.

Taxis provide a delivery and pick-up service for luggage transfer.

Regional transport info

Gasteiner Alpenstraße
This scenic road is approx. 7 km in length and goes through numerous tunnels at Böckstein (Nassfeld) up to 1600 metres above sea level to Sportgastein.

Tolls are already incorporated in a valid ski pass as part of the Alpine winter sport offer. Tolls for cross-country skiers, who are travelling by ski bus, are paid by the tourist office as part of ‘SANFTEN MOBILITÄT’. This means that cross-country skiers do not have to pay anything at the tollbooth.
